The Collection
Every piece in the collection has been designed by the artist and made from handloom textiles. The artist has deliberately used 100% natural products other than the red accents you see on the clothes, which have been upcycled from waste material from previous fabric that people threw away.
The tailoring was done by a local dressmaker named Maksud Alam, who has been in the business for the last 20 years. He followed his father’s footsteps, who has been a master tailor named Abdur Rob Molla. The family business of custom tailoring is over 50 years old, which first started in 1947. He has been instrumental in making my dream of this collection a reality. This would not have been possible without continuous hard work and remarkable skill.
All the pieces that have been dyed with natural indigo were done by Dulal Kumar Malakar, who has been in the natural dye production for over 15 years. His diligence and impressive craftsmanship have made this collection possible.
Mohammad Bacchu Mia has contributed to the collection by doing the screen prints of the paintings, which can be seen in some of the pieces. He started this business in 1998 and is still working to this day.
